This custom-designed, high-end home was tailored to meet every desire the clients had from their previous home in the North Island. They requested full schist cladding around the entire house, along with an exceptional outdoor dining area.
The project presented several challenges, especially with the homeowners facing a tight move-in deadline and the lingering effects of the Covid lockdown, which had disrupted material supplies. Securing the large volume of stone, having it cut to size, and dealing with nationwide shortages of plasterboard and timber were all obstacles.
Fortunately, I had pre-purchased as much material as possible, but meeting the deadlines was still a complex task. However, thanks to a dedicated team and hardworking subcontractors, we were able to hand over the completed home to the excited clients four weeks ahead of schedule.
